SIGINT for Border Security and Poaching
It is the goal of every country to secure their borders; both maritime and land based. Those who want to illegally access these borders need to communicate. They very often use Sat Phones since Sat Phones don’t touch the national local GSM/telecommunications network. They connect to a space-based network like Thuraya
The problem of Sat Phones is well known by governments and they have two choices to address this problem
Formally ask the provider like Thuraya for data on Sat Phone traffic at a specific time and place, or use systems to geolocate and monitor this traffic. Horizon’s hardware and data solutions are used for the later solution.
Aircraft carrying FlyingFish™ were able to geolocate poachers’ Sat Phone and communications traffic, and allow law enforcement to apprehend these individuals on land and sea (abalone poaching)
Our FlyingFish™ and BlackFish™ can be installed on manned and unmanned aircraft to immediately geolocate and monitor these communications.
